On the first Saturday of Lent, the Wilten Boys’ Choir will present one of the most brilliant and popular works of the history of mankind – the St Matthew Passion.
Split between two chamber choirs and the concert choir with soloists from its own rows of boys’ and male voices, we will show a diverse performance from small, intimate ensembles to big, powerful choirs. Just like Bach intended it to be. The crystal-clear sounds of the boys’ voices will fill the great rococo Wilten Basilica, supported by the Tyrolean Baroque Orchestra Academia Jacobus Stainer on historic instruments, directed by Johannes Stecher. Donations for the Lenten Soup, which will be served during intermission, will go towards projects of the Catholic Women’s Movement (Katholische Frauenbewegung) and the Wilten parish.
