Following our pre-Christmas tradition, the Christmas Oratorio by J. S. Bach will be presented on Saturday, 22nd December 2018 at the Wilten Basilica.
Conducted by Johannes Stecher, the choir and soloists from the Wilten Boys’ Choir will perform this masterpiece.
As in Bach’s time, the soloists are all members of the choir. Boys will perform the soprano and alto solos. The other soloists are Pascal Ladner (alto), David Kerber (tenor), Matteo Rasic (baritone) and Oliver Sailer (bass).
The Academia Jacobus Stainer Baroque Orchestra, which has numerous experts specialising in Baroque instruments, encourages reflection and will get you in the mood for the holidays. Brilliantly set to music by one of the best composers in the history of mankind, the choir and soloists will tell the story of the birth of Christ.
The first three cantatas will be performed on Saturday, 22nd December at 4pm and cantatas four to six at 8pm.
In between, from 5:30pm to 7:30pm, the nearby Bierstindl and Riese Haymon restaurants will be offering special menus.
Concert tickets, including or excluding the culinary offerings, are available in advance from Österreich Ticket and at the Innsbruck Information Office on Burggraben.
The seats in the church are numbered and divided into three categories. The church is heated; however, warm clothing will be required.
